Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in your full service per person menu pricing ?
Our full service per person pricing includes all food, glass plates, serving equipment, Uniformed Service Personnel, buffet tables draped to the floor with linen in your choice of colors, floral garnishment of the buffet tables, and setup and breakdown of the buffet areas.

What is not included in your full service menu pricing?
Items not included in our full service menu pricing are bar setups, alcoholic beverages, bartenders, rental, delivery and setup of tables, chairs & linens for guest seating tables, floral centerpieces for buffet & seating tables and any other floral decor. We can provide any or all of the above services for an additional investment other than alcoholic beverages. In addition, as a full service event planning facility we can provide you with invitations, entertainment, valet service, and any other event service you may need.

Can I expect gratuity and services charges to be added to my bill ?
No. Please be aware that AST Catering DOES NOT ADD an 18% or 20% service charge or gratuity to your bill.  Gratuities are left entirely to our clients own accord.  Nothing is added to your final contracted amount other than sales tax.

Are the menus on your website all you have to offer?
No. These are only suggestions to help you in making your decisions. Our strong suit is custom designing menus that suit the individual needs and desires of our clients. Please feel free to give us a call with your specific ideas and we will be glad to design a menu especially for you.

Do you hire waiters from a temp agency ?
No. We do not do this and it has proved to set us apart from most other catering companies. All of our Event Staff are employees of AST Catering and Special Events. They are covered by Worker's Compensation, Unemployment and Social Security. We are proud to say that many of our Event Staff Employees have been with AST for ten years or more.

Why is it important I use a licensed & insured caterer instead of my friend's aunt who makes wonderful hors d'oeuvres and wedding cakes? Why do event facilities require me to use a licensed & insured caterer ?
This is to protect you, your guests, and the event facility. Licensed caterers prepare their food in commercial kitchens which are regularly inspected by State & Local Health Departments. The food is prepared by professional Chefs who are trained and Certified as to proper food preparation and sanitation. Insured caterers protect their clients against such things as food borne illnesses and protect the event facilities against worker compensation claims.

Do you do tastings ?
Yes. It is our pleasure to share our cuisine with you with sufficient notice.

Changes happen when planning an event. Can I change my mind about things even after I have agreed to it ?
Yes. Up to two weeks before your event we will continue adjusting and tailoring your event to meet your needs. This includes your final guest count.

How am I expected to pay for my event ?
When you pay a deposit of 50% of the cost of your event we will save the date of your event for you. The final balance is due one week before your event.
